A Japanese soap company has developed a natural, additive-free firefighting foam that extinguishes fires with less water and without harming the environment, with plans to test it on forest fires in Thailand, A Japanese concrete company has become the first in the country to manufacture self-healing concrete using bacteria, and is now freely sharing the technology with competitors to help the entire industry reduce its CO2 emissions, Japanese researchers are developing an artificial photosynthesis system that generates electricity by converting sunlight, water and CO2 into hydrogen, with a test home planned for a tropical island in Okinawa.

Toshi Maeda
