- Business Content: Aquivio is a Taiwan-based smart-hydration startup co-founded by Daniel Hill (CEO) and Mark Chang. It develops IoT-enabled Hydration Stations — bottle-less smart dispensers that deliver alkaline hydrogen water with 20+ customizable functional infusions (vitamins, electrolytes, BCAA, collagen, caffeine, etc.). Aquivio operates a Hydration-as-a-Service (HaaS) model, renting its stations to gyms, corporate offices, and hotels, with app-based analytics for usage and sustainability tracking (plastic bottles saved, CO₂ avoided).
Japan ranks among the world’s largest bottled-water markets, producing billions of single-use plastic bottles annually. Behind each bottle lies a supply chain dependent on fuel-intensive logistics — trucking, warehousing, last-mile delivery — that compounds the environmental cost long before the cap is twisted off.
AQUIVIO addresses both problems at once with its Hydration Station: a customizable, on-site machine that generates high-quality hydrogen-alkaline water directly at the point of consumption. Rather than shipping water to people, the company brings the production process to them — functioning, in effect, as a micro-beverage factory installed wherever demand exists.
The model is already proving out globally. AQUIVIO currently operates across five countries, spanning Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Southeast Asia, and is raising a Series A to accelerate further expansion. For markets like Japan, where plastic-waste pressure and import logistics costs are both acute, the timing may be ideal.
